Buddy Rosar Warren Vincent Rosar Caught 2 No-Hitters (1945 & 1947) |
Rosar was a fine defensive catcher who played behind the Yankees' Bill Dickey for four years. Although he appeared in two World Series for the Yankees, he batted only once, producing a pinch-hit single in 1942. Traded to Cleveland after the 1942 season, he became an All-Star being named five times. In 1946 with the A's, he set the record for errorless games by a catcher, fielding 1.000 in 117 games. The next year he extended his perfect play to 147 games, second only to Yogi Berra's 148-game streak. Led all catchers in Fielding Average four years (1944, 1946-48). Holds the 20th Century Career Record for Fewest Passed Balls per Games Caught (0.0300) with only 28 miscues in 934 games as catcher. | |
